Harold Wood and Upminster were both beaten in the Essex League Premier Division on Saturday, but Ardleigh Green were able to celebrate a first victory in Division One.
Upminster lost to Loughton while Harold Wood were beaten by Brentwood, but Green celebrated a tight 12-run victory over Hainault & Clayhall.
Luke Edwards hit 57 for the hosts and captain Chris Cook contributed 36 as they finished on 189-8.
Although the visitors got off to a strong start Green’s bowling unit all contributed towards the success.
Omar Ayaz (2-18) and Inam Rehman (2-33) picked up vital scalps but it was Jamal Chaudhry who did a large chunk of the damage returning 3-31 off eight overs to bowl Hainault out for 177.
In the Premier Division Upminster were defeated by 98 runs against Loughton after the hosts declared on 306-4 off 56 overs.
Reece O’Connell picked up two wickets, but Upminster were never able to take wickets and keep the runs down consistently.
It left Upminster with an uphill task and only Shahbaz Butt (40) and Alan Ison (58) were able to register significant scores.
Frank Hazel (32) and John Curtis (22 not out) contributed too as Loughton bowled out the visitors for 208.
Wood were bowled out cheaply for 120 as they lost to Brentwood by 122 runs.
The hosts batted first and were bowled out for 242 with Richard Brabner returning 3-47 off 15.5 overs.
However no Harold Wood batsman was able to stick around for a significant period of time and Colin Sher top scored with 28 as the visitors were bowled out inside 36 overs.
Hornchurch beat Belhus in Division Two after Jamie Sorrell (69) and Chris Sains (63) top scored in a rain-affected match.
Sorrell and Sains helped get Hornchurch finish on 288-8 off 48 overs, before Belhus were set 185 to win off 26 overs.
Belhus could only manage 150-7 off 26 as Taqi Abbas (2-19) impressed with the ball to help Hornchurch win by 38 runs.
Gidea Park & Romford couldn’t follow Hornchurch’s lead though as they were beaten by Leigh.
Sarvesh Damle (3-36) helped restrict Leigh on Sea to 299-9 from their 50 overs but Park fell short by 55 runs in their chase as they were bowled out for 244.
Alan Croft hit an impressive 88 but only Damle (34) and Sam Hewitt (30) were able to score 30 or more as Park suffered defeat.
