Mid-Essex League Division Seven: St Andews chop down Woodham Mortimer

A stering bowling effort helped St Andrews to a comfortable seven-wicket win away to Woodham Mortimer at the weekend.

Bowling first, the St Andrews attack all chipped in as the wickets fell at regular intervals.

Graham Street and Alan Street ended with figures of 3-7 and 3-12 respectively, as Woodham Mortimer were all out for 58.

Andrew Walker (2-11) and Colin Yeomans (2-21) also played their part as the home side fell to 37-7 at one stage.

In reply, Andrew Salmon was out for a golden duck and Paul Street could only score five runs which gave the hosts slight hope.

That hope was all but over though as Ben Greenwood hit 24 and unbeaten knocks from Sean Jackson (17 not out) and Allen Hales (nine not out) saw them comfortably over the winning line.

On Saturday St Andrews entertain Rayleigh fourths, who have won just two of their last five matches, so the leaders will hope to extend their advantage at the top.
