Coopers Coborn’s under-14 boys and under-16 girls impressed at the South East regional finals of the Team Tennis competition after winning the Essex round and several knockout matches.

The event included the top 16 teams from all over the UK and the girls had a difficult group against Culford School and Surbiton High School, two of the best schools for tennis in the region.

But Evie Smart, Leah Mundy, Abigal Michelow and Ella Madle produced an amazing effort to finish fourth in the region.

The boys faced number one seeds and eventual winners Culford in the first round and played exceptionally well in defeat.

That left them to face Richard Hale in the third-place play-off and they won all rubbers in an excellent display for a 6-0 win.

That left Henry Hammond, Jude Butler, Noel Moore and Harry Cossington were ranked ninth in the whole of the country.
