The junior and senior boys were ranked in the top 30 in the country after regional events in September and produced some superb swims.

The three freestyle and medley relay heats had 10 schools in each, with the top 10 reaching the finals.

The junior boys’ team of Lewis and Dan Dixon, Aidan Fourie, Dion Fana and Jamieson McLaren took five seconds off their entry time to finish ninth in 2.17.40 in the medley event and 16th in the freestyle in 2.03.12.

And the senior boys’ team of Dan Sida, Lewis Binning, Nathan Banga and Aaron Wilson were 21st in the medley in 1.57.31, before improving to 15th in the freestyle in 1.43.51.

Assistant headteacher Mark Duncan said: “They were outstanding performances from every student involved, with great team spirit and encouragement for one another throughout the day.”
