‘Goalie was our best player’
London Raiders forward Liam Chong was quick to pay tribute to team-mate James Tanner after the team’s three-point weekend in the National League.
Chong had a goal and three assists in a 5-3 win over Streatham at Lee Valley and another assist in the 2-2 draw with Oxford the following night.
Improving Raiders maintained their hold on the final play-off place as a result and Chong said: “I got man of the match both games and I don’t think I even played that well. Tanner deserved it both nights.
“The team is coming along nicely now. There’s more cohesiveness and the powerplay is looking great at times. Patience is the key.”
Raiders now have a blank weekend – although players and supporters will get together at a fundraising Race Night at Fairlop Powerleague tomorrow – before returning to the ice on Sunday week (February 8).
Chong and his team-mates take on Streatham once again that night, but he added: “I don’t know who we’ve got, but I’m not particularly worried by any team that we face in the up and coming weeks.”
