Campion School pupil Ruby Thorne is going for diving glory at the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Thorne will be representing Wales in the 10 metre women's synchro on Saturday, August 6 and the 10 metre mixed synchro event two days later, having started her diving journey at the age of five with the Havering Cormorants Diving Club based at Harrow Lodge Sports Centre in Hornchurch.

A former pupil of Hylands Primary School and Frances Bardsley Secondary School, she is currently studying in Campion's Sixth Form.

And Thorne showed her diving potential at an early age, appearing fearless and willing to try anything in the pool.

As she continued to develop her skills, she moved to the London Aquatic Centre with Dive London, where she now trains on the 10 metre platform.

Thorne will be paired with Lucy Hawkins from Sheffield in her first event and with Aidan Heslop, one of the premier cliff divers who competes in the Red Bull Cliff Diving Series, in the other competition.
