Local boxer set for big fight night on December 5 at York Hall

Upminster’s Ryan Taylor is aiming to make it third time lucky when he challenges for the vacant Southern Area super-lightweight title on December 5.

The former Newham amateur is part of Josh Goodwin’s promoted event titled ‘A Night of War’ at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

The 27-year-old will take on undefeated Ben Day, from Euston, in a clash that will undoubtedly thrill the sell-out crowd.

Both styles of the fighters mean it should be an entertaining match up and will be the third time Taylor is going for the title.

He lost, at a lower weight, to Liam Shinkwin at Wembley in March 2013 and later that year lost out to Floyd Moore in September.

Taylor is confident that this is his time to finally get his hands on the title, he said: “I took a year out after the Moore title bout.

“I have taken on a new manager in Steve Goodwin. I told him that my aim was to fight for the Southern Area title and one year on my opportunity is here.

“The atmosphere at York Hall will be electric and I hope that everyone will get behind me in my quest to win my first major title and hopefully it will be the springboard to even bigger and better things.”
