Hosts celebrate success at Collier Row venue

Romford Boxing Club celebrated three wins out of three as they held their second show of the season at the North Romford Community Centre in Collier Row on Saturday.

A total of 16 bouts were staged, with Romford’s 14-year-old Ethan Tisbury continuing his good form to record a third successive victory.

Tisbury met a determined opponent in A Bhaneal from Barking in an exciting contest at 51kg, boxing on the front foot from the start and catching his rival with a strong jab and right hand shots.

Good body shots hurt Bhaneal in the second round, with Tisbury producing a strong finish to claim a points win and maintain his unbeaten record.

Next up for the hosts was 17-year-old Silver Shele, who conceded almost 3kg in weight to Finchley’s F Subairy but claimed a maiden win for the club, scoring with a good job and strong right hands for a unanimous decision.

And 30-year-old Scott Palmer proved too strong for his Haddenham ABC rival at 65kg on his return to the ring, forcing his opponent to take three standing counts before the referee stopped the contest early in the third round.
