Big Cats keep their man for a second season

Levett Essex Leopards have announced that Steve Ogunjimi will return for a second season as head coach in the 2016/17 campaign.

The 39–year-old, who had three spells as a player with the Big Cats, took the helm a year ago and led Leopards to sixth place in the league in addition to both the National Cup and play-off quarter-finals.

“Re-signing Steve was our first job this summer as we look to move forward next season” said general manager Dave Ryan.

“Steve had a good rookie year as coach, and he definitely grew as a coach during the season. We’ve got some exciting changes to announce in the coming weeks and we believe that Steve is the man to take us forward.”

Ogunjimi is delighted to return as Leopards’ coach: “I’m very happy to be able to continue my progression as a coach and hope that I can be closer to bringing silverware back to the club.”
