Havering athlete on international debut

Havering AC’s Max Law showed his potential on the international stage after he out in a fine performance at the SIAB international meeting in Dublin at the weeken d.

Representing the English Schools’ team in his first taste of international action his 59.52 metre throw in windy conditions placed second.

Once again he was pipped for the gold medal by fellow England thrower Tom Newson, who has got the better of him on a number of occasions so far this summer.

The pair are one and two in the UK rankings at under-17 level, but the Havering youngster is a year one athlete in the age group, while Hewson is year two.

The pair are likely to meet again as the South of England Championships at Crustal Palace and the England age group championships at Bedford which are still to come.

Law will be looking to finally beat his rival as he continues his improvement.
