Four members of Havering Tri made their Ironman debuts at the weekend.

Brett Thake, Lee Skidmore, Olivia Littlechild and Leigh Graham jetted off to the Austria-Karnten event, alongside 3,000 athletes from more than 60 countries.

The course included a 2.4-mile swim in Lake Worthersee, a 112-mile bike ride through Carinthia and a 26.2 mile run and Thake was first home in 11 hours 19 minutes 23 seconds.

Skidmore (12:49.29) was next home, as Littlechild crossed the line in 13:38.44 and Graham in 13:53.42.

Club chairman Graham Goddard said: “I’ve watched these guys train over time, and what they’ve achieved will hopefully inspire anyone that wants to get into triathlon, to give it a go.”

Littlechild added: “After taking part in Ironman 70.3 Dubai in January, I was ready to take on a longer distance. I’ve been training for 12 months to be able to compete here and it’s a brilliant feeling to complete this.”
