Harold Wood Running Club’s Linda Day finished second woman at the Thurrock 10k on Sunday.

Clubmates Lynsey Mann and Louise Hawker also took part in the event, while 22 other members were in parkrun action at six locations.

Jonny Le Roux (21.37), Alicia Gray (25.12), Joy Reid (29.47) and Lucinda Wynne (30.04) all set personal bests as events at Basildon, Bedgebury, Burnham on Crouch, Gorleston Cliffs, Raphael and Worsley Woods were tackled.

Further afield, Wood’s Josh Jenner and Amy Le Grys took part in the original mountain marathon in the Black Mountains of Wales.

Le Grys and her partner finished 113th out of 170 pairs, while Jenner was in a team that placed 11th out of 58 and ran a total of 68k, including a climb of 4000m in awful weather conditions, including snow and minus temperatures.

Ian Grant, meanwhile, has won the club ballot to run the 2019 London Marathon.
