Coopers School into regional round of County Cup

The Coopers’ and Coborn School progressed into the regional round of the National Cross Country Cup after a successful first county round.

The Upminster-based school had all four of their teams come out on top of each category in the Essex round of the National Cross Country Cup at Campion School.

In the event each team had six runners participate and race to achieve the lowest possible point score.

12 schools competed in the initial round with 70 students in each race.

The year nine and 10 girls’ led the way with the lowest score of 12 points to bag the top prize.

Abigail Ives continued her dominant start to the season as she finishing in top spot with Sydney Foley following narrowly behind in second.

Natalie Sewell finished fourth, Chloe Rand fifth, Alice Brown seventh, Alice Atkins 10th and Holly Bradley 25th.

The year seven and eight girls finished on 13 points with Stephanie Okoro crossing the line in first place.

Ruby Naughton (3rd), Freya Long (4th), Keira Flannery (5th), Charlotte Evans (6th) and Ruby Tilson (10th) helped Okoro to seal the win.

The boys also finished with 13 points as they bagged the top three spots thanks to Frank Lewis, Harry Lewis and Zach Bridges.

Seb Alexandru (7th), Daniel Lammas (10th) and Oliver Taylor-Bush (13th) all played their part as well.

In the year nine and 10 boys they scored a higher total of 23 points but still managed to finish in the top spor.

Alex Ford won the race with Dan Edwards in fifth, Oliver Jones in seventh, Regan Clayton 10th, Finley Welch 11th and Sam Bradley in 13th to seal the win.

All four teams will now take part in the regional round on Saturday, November, 10.
