Marek Nahlik netted his second successive hat-trick to lead London Raiders to National League victory on the south coast last night.

The Slovakian ace had collected six points in the previous night’s 9-5 home win over Oxford and proved the difference against the Devils.

Raiders travelled to the small rink in Gosport with only 10 skaters and goalie Euan King, but took the lead with just 60 seconds on the clock as Nahlik netted on assists from Ross Connolly and Sam Roberts.

Connolly was called for a cross-checking penalty just moments later, with Jack Cooper then called for boarding to keep the visitors on the penalty kill.
Raiders were also hit with a bench minor penalty for a face-off violation, which gave Solent 40 seconds with two extra men, but the visitors held firm and the home side lost Richard Facey to a 2+10 penalty for cross-checking.

After a frantic start, it was not until the 16th minute that Roberts and Solent’s Alexander Cole were binned for holding penalties.

Raiders captain Tom Davis was called for elbows just before the break as Raiders remained one goal ahead.

But Solent squared matters on the powerplay in the second minute of the middle session through Matthew Lawday.

The hosts were then penalised for a face-off violation and Mark Baroni was binned for high sticks, as Raiders forward JJ Pitchley was called for holding the opponent’s stick.

Pitchley made amends on his return to the ice as he put Raiders back in front, assisted by John Connolly and Nahlik.

But a holding penalty against Slavomir Buda then gave Devils the chance to draw level for a second time on the powerplay, with Alex Trendall beating King.

Raiders killed off minor penalties against Nahlik and Pitchley either side of the second break as the match remained in the balance.

And although they could not capitalise on a cross-checking minor against Alex Cole, Raiders took the lead for a third time when Nahlik netted his second goal of the night in the 49th minute, after good work from Pitchley and Thomas Beesley.

Nahlik made sure when completing his treble from another Beesley pass, with 92 seconds left on the clock, as Raiders climbed up to third place in the table.
