Rainham youngster Abbie Cook got to achieve one of her lifetime goals in karate recently.
The 15-year-old Cook represented England at the European Junior Championships in Portugal, placing eighth in the individual competition and fourth in the female team kata.
And that came after a fourth-place finish in the team kate at the World Junior Championships before Christmas.
Mum Nicki said: “Being able to go to these competitions was a huge achievement for Abbie.
“She already has over 70 gold medals, has been English champion four times, British champion three times, British international champion, Scottish champion and Austrian champion.
“Her school Brentwood Ursuline deserve a massive thank you for all their support in her karate.
“Abbie has worked so so hard with her karate, but even though she spends a lot of time training and competing she has not fallen behind on her school work.
“Abbie has been doing karate from the age of five and never stopped loving it. I think the reason she is as good as she is, is because she loves what she is doing.”
