Havering Hockey Club enjoyed an excellent weekend as the men's section racked up five victories, including an impressive win for the first team and a first success of the season for the fifths.

The men's first team came from behind to defeat Chelmsford 2s 5-2.

Harry Andrews opened the scoring with a well-worked move straight from the push-back, but the hosts responded with two quick goals to lead 2-1.

Havering drew level before the break through Connor Poulain and then dominated the second half.

Poulain completed a fine hat-trick, including a short-corner finish, while Sonny Sangha added a fifth as Havering secured a deserved three points.

Havering 2s made it back-to-back wins with a 2-0 victory over Redbridge and Ilford 1s.

The visitors frustrated the home side early on, but Zorwar Narwal broke the deadlock with an excellent individual goal.

Haydn Joslin doubled the advantage after the interval and player of the match Michael Corona-Smith helped guide Havering to another clean sheet.

The men's third team ran out 4-0 winners at Old Loughtonians 5s.

Harry Mitchley, Oliver West, Bill Birkbeck and Greg Carolan were all on target as Havering scored twice in each half to seal a comfortable success.

A fourth-minute strike from Alex Bilby was enough to earn the men's fourth team a hard-fought 1-0 victory away to Old Southendians 5s.

Bilby forced home after a frantic goalmouth scramble and Havering held firm for the remainder of the contest.

Goalkeeper Seb Waters produced key saves while the defence stood strong to preserve the clean sheet.

The men's fifth team celebrated their first win of the season with a determined 1-0 victory over Old Loughtonians 7s.

After a goalless first half, Michael produced the decisive moment with a superb strike.

Havering then showed great discipline and composure to withstand sustained late pressure and secure all three points.

Elsewhere, the men's development squad shared the points in a 0-0 draw at Maldon 3s.

The ladies endured a mixed weekend.

The first team went down 3-1 at Blueharts despite Sue Harwood's equaliser after the break.

The second team showed great character before losing 4-2 at Maldon, recovering from 3-0 down to make a game of it through goals from Claire Brennan and Emma Isherwood.

Goalkeeper Sophie McCoy impressed with a string of fine saves.

The third team were beaten by Chelmsford 5s after conceding twice in the closing minutes, but the fourth team finished the weekend on a high with an excellent 3-0 victory over Maldon.

Alex Casemore, Trudie Clarke and Katie Pengelly scored the goals, while Holly Dawkins earned player of the match honours in an accomplished team performance.
