Havering AC produced their best Southern League result of the season with a third-place finish at a sweltering Medway Park in Gillingham on Saturday.

However, despite the encouraging performance, earlier results meant the club's stay in Division One came to an end after two seasons in the top flight.

The club's only track victory came in the men's 3,000m, where Chander Dhillon kicked clear in the closing stages to take first place.

Andy Adebusoye, better known for the 800m, stepped up in distance to finish second in the B race.

Luke Williams and Mark Bishop also delivered valuable points by winning both pole vault competitions.

Havering's women enjoyed considerable success in the field events.

Alicia Fairmaner recorded a season's best to win the A-string long jump, while Stephanie Osuala won the B competition.

Fairmaner also claimed second place in the 100m B race, while Osuala was runner-up in the triple jump.

Katie Ennis won the A-string discus, with Eboni Roach taking victory in the B event.

Ennis added second place in the hammer, narrowly missing her personal best, while Roach was third in the shot.

There was further field event success in the high jump, where Oma Nwapa won the A string and Clare Brennan shared first place in the B competition.

Nwapa also finished third in the A-string 100m, while Brennan was runner-up in the pole vault.

Nina Brennan added second place in the B hammer and third in the B shot.

On the track, Olivia Boache and Lucy Chapelhow both recorded season's bests to finish second in the A and B 400m races respectively.

Chapelhow was also third in the B 1,500m.

Grace Tilson claimed second place in the B steeplechase and added third-place finishes in the B 800m and triple jump.

Clare Davies finished third in the B 3,000m.

The quartet of Nwapa, Fairmaner, Osuala and Boache combined to finish second in the sprint relay with a season's best performance.

Elsewhere, Isaac Ogunlade secured third places in the A-string 200m and 400m, while Kieran O'Hara (800m), Matthew Blacklock (1,500m) and Toby Bishop (400m hurdles) also finished third.

Charlie Burgess was second in the B 800m and Calvin Sanni third in the B 400m.

Several Havering athletes were also in action at the Colchester Friday Night 5km races, which incorporated the Essex Championships.

Dhillon finished 27th overall in the elite men's race in 14.44, while James Stewart recorded a personal best of 15.07.

Maddie Barker was seventh female overall and first Under-23 woman in 16.41, while Lauren Reed finished 11th female and second in the W40 category with 17.13.

In the main race, George Dixon clocked 16.08, Graham Pritchard 17.17 and John Barker 19.13.

Essex Championship positions are yet to be confirmed."
