It was a difficult afternoon for Bentley Cricket Club's Saturday sides, with all three teams suffering defeats.

The 1st XI endured a heavy 153-run loss to promotion-chasing Shenfield in Division Two of the Hamro Foundation Essex League.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Shenfield piled up 298-3 declared, led by an impressive 140 from Robinson and 94 from Pallington, while Kohli finished unbeaten on 56.

Bentley's bowlers found opportunities hard to come by, with Whitbourn claiming the only wicket.

Set 299 to win, Bentley lost early wickets to a potent Shenfield attack and struggled to build partnerships.

Phil Coleman provided the main resistance with 65, but no other batter was able to make a significant contribution as the hosts were bowled out for 145.

Arnold and Green both claimed three wickets for the visitors.

The 2nd XI also came away empty-handed after a six-wicket defeat at Goresbrook in Division Three.

Asked to bat first after losing the toss, Bentley found runs difficult to come by and closed on 192-8 from their 50 overs.

Captain Marc Carter led from the front with an unbeaten 66, while extras contributed 13 to the total.

Goresbrook made light work of the chase, reaching 193-4 in just 27.1 overs.

Subramanian top-scored with 73, while Sharma added 44 as the home side secured victory.

Harry Tremain was the pick of the Bentley bowlers with figures of 1-23, while Kirkpatrick claimed two wickets.

The 3rd XI suffered a tough day against Mid Essex League Division Seven leaders East Hanningfield & Great Burstead.

After winning the toss, the hosts amassed 403-5 from their 45 overs, with centuries from Y Patel (100) and K Patel (102 not out).

Matt Crocker was Bentley's most successful bowler with 2-60.

Facing a daunting target, Bentley lost wickets regularly despite a determined effort from Liam Rawlinson, who made 70.

Fourteen-year-old Alex Pulford impressed with 35, while Crocker also contributed 35, but Bentley were eventually dismissed for 197, falling to a 206-run defeat.
