Upminster CC enjoyed another positive weekend, led by the 1st XI’s impressive three-wicket win over Billericay at Upminster Park.
The visitors posted 266 all out, Jarred Lysaught making 116 and Will Dale 55, while Shafiq Rahman (3-49) led the home attack.
In reply, JJ Smuts struck 73 from 61 balls and Kiran Kullar 57, but the game stayed finely balanced. Captain Aaron Beard and Tom Daniels guided Upminster home, Daniels finishing 23 not out as victory was secured with more than four overs to spare.
The 2nd XI slipped to defeat at Brentwood. After choosing to bat, Upminster reached 196 all out, Stu Connor making 60 and Arun Kullar 46 before a collapse from 118-1 to 169-8 proved costly.
Brentwood recovered from an early wicket to win by three wickets, despite Ollie Peck’s 3-32.
The 3rd XI continued their strong start with a convincing win over Woodford Wells.
Steve Limn (62) and George Sheridan (49) laid the platform before Stan Moore’s excellent 86 and 37 from Joseph Brooks lifted Upminster to 264-6.
Wells replied with 198-8, despite a fine 115 from Will Rogers, as Fin Tolan (3-29) and Brooks (3-43) led the bowling.
A superb fightback saw the 4th XI win at Hadleigh and Thundersley.
Ethan Berry’s quickfire 64 helped Upminster to 144 all out, Alastair Graham taking 5-28. The hosts were then dismissed for 80, with Fenton Everingham (3-12) and Harry Bradford (2-2) starring.
The 5th XI made it two wins from two, beating Shenfield by seven wickets.
Rob Evans (4-14) and Dylan Narbheram (2-25) skittled the opposition for 99, before Ian Munn’s unbeaten 42 guided the chase.
The 6th XI maintained their perfect start with a five-wicket win at Hutton.
Anay Narbheram took 3-24 as the hosts made 219-5, before Thomas Brabin’s unbeaten 77 led a controlled run chase.
The 7th XI were beaten despite a spirited reply against Great Totham. George Davis smashed 200 not out in a total of 335-7, with Oscar Hayes and Anotidaishe Chifamba taking two wickets each. Hayes (53) and Oscar Sousanna (51) responded well, but Upminster finished on 192.
The Friendly XI secured two wins. At West Mersea, Max Bird (52*) and Eddie Waters (50*) helped Upminster to 236-7 before the hosts were restricted to 84-9.
On Sunday, Lewis Munn’s 66 powered a total of 259 against Newham, who were then bowled out for 87 with three bowlers taking two wickets apiece.
