Romford made history with a memorable 3-0 win over Essex Senior League rivals Great Wakering Rovers in the FA Vase final at Wembley Stadium on Saturday.

A second-half brace from leading scorer Hassan Nalbant, either side of an effort from man of the match Sam Deering, secured the silverware for Boro.

And it ensured an unforgettable day for Dan Spinks' side on the club's return to the national stadium - after their 1-0 loss to Bromley in the FA Amateur Cup final of 1949.

Here's how their players rated.

ROMFORD PLAYER RATINGS

JAKE ANDERSON 6
Relatively quiet day for young goalkeeper, who had been one of the heroes of their semi-final penalty shootout win over Lincoln United. Saved a Tony Martin header with little fuss and punched away a corner under pressure, but generally well protected by his back four.

JUNIOR LUKE 7
Right-back produced a great crossfield ball for Hassant Nalbant to set up one first-half attack and was always a good outlet on the flank.

DARREN PHILLIPS 7
Burly centre-back saw a header from a free-kick easily gathered, won most of his defensive aerial duels and held firm in the heart of defence. Managed to defy cramp to see out the whole game.

SCOTT DOE 8
Experience proved vital on the big occasion as the former Dagenham & Redbridge man orchestrated Romford's rearguard with efficient authority.

REMI SUTTON 7
Former Hornchurch left-back - an FA Trophy winner in 2021 - dealt with the threat of pacey winger Max Gnandi well, while also supporting attacks. Booked for pulling back Jake Gordon late in first half.

KRIS NEWBY 7
Captain sat in the middle of the park, curling a left-footed shot narrowly over the crossbar late in first half and pinging a 25-yarder over in second half. Proudly lifted the trophy with vice-captain Lee Hursit in the Royal Box.

ADALBERTO PINTO 7
Looked good on the ball and dragged a left-footed shot wide, with a slight deflection in the first half. Booked for a clumsy challenge in the second half, though.

SAM DEERING 8
Prowled central midfield, looking to take control of proceedings. Slotted home Boro's second goal moments after the opener, when Finlay Dorrell saw his initial shot saved. Named player of the match.

FINLAY DORRELL 7
Denied by a close-range save when Kris Newby dragged ball towards the far post in 11th minute and pulled another shot just past far post from a Hassan Nalbant flick-on. Forced Louis Shamshoum into a save early in second half, then saw another attempt blocked before Sam Deering converted the rebound.

HASSAN NALBANT 9
Led the line well, holding the ball up, linking with teammates. Showed good footwork and slotted home confidently for the opener when played in by Charlie Morris for the opener. Denied another late in normal time, but made amends with a superb second in stoppage time from a Toheeb Elegushi through ball.

CHARLIE MORRIS 7
Whipped in a good early cross for Hassan Nalbant then sent a shot of his own over crossbar. Sliced another attempt wide before the interval but showed good awareness to seize on a poor Wakering pass and play in Hassan Nalbant to break the deadlock.

SUBS
TOHEEB ELEGUSHI (for Dorrell, 67) 7

Looked lively on the left and played nice through ball for Hassan Nalbant's second. Had a very late effort saved as his teammate hoped for a pass to complete a hat-trick.

ASHAAN SIDDIK (for Pinto, 72) 6

Sat in to help Kris Newby and Sam Deering protect lead Boro's two-goal lead.

LEE HURSIT (for Sutton, 90) - N/A

Got a late chance to tread the hallowed turf, before listing the trophy with Kris Newby.

Unused subs: Jacob Wiggins, Jamie Hursit, Danny Hurford, Daniel Nakipov-Getmansky.
