Romford Buccaneers head coach Jason Buckman may tinker with his line-up as they complete the National League Division One South regular season this weekend.

Buccs head to Solent Devils on Saturday, before hosting MK Thunder at Romford's Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre on Sunday (5.15pm).

And with sixth place already guaranteed - and a two-legged play-off quarter-final against Slough Jets to come over Easter weekend - Buckman will use these games to try a few things.

"We look forward to Solent away and MK at home this weekend with a view to win both games," he said.

"I will try some other line match-ups and work on some details towards the play-offs the following weekend.

"We have to go into these nothing games with a positive view to get some things right and build confidence."

Buccs were edged out by the odd goal in seven at Oxford last weekend.

The hosts netted twice in the opening 15 minutes, before Brynley Capps replied with only 12 seconds left in the first period.

After a scoreless middle frame, Capps levelled with a shorthanded goal a minute into the final period, but former Raiders forward James Pentecost replied while Oxford were a man short soon after.

Matt Lawday then converted a penalty shot to make it 4-2 and although Capps completed his hat-trick with a powerplay effort with less than five minutes to go, it was not enough.

"It was a really close game of hockey that could’ve gone either way," added Buckman.

"First period I felt we took a while to get going, so to come out 2-1 down I knew we could address some things and get back into the game.

"The second and third period our tempo was much, much better and our puck management improved a lot too.

"We definitely created the better chances on the night, we just couldn’t find the net and game-tying goal in the end."
