Everyone Active Raiders forward Jake Sylvester is hoping they can build on an impressive four-point weekend as they hit the road in the National League.

Raiders go north of the border to take on play-off chasing rivals Solway Sharks on Saturday, before visiting table-topping Leeds Knights the following evening.

And they do so having beaten Telford and Sheffield last weekend, which took their haul to eight points from a possible 10 in recent weeks.

"We’ve been picking up form the last month or so and it’s showing in the results," said Sylvester.

"I think we're showing what type of hockey we can play and what we probably expected of ourselves a lot sooner.

"We’ll look to take it forward in a tough two-game away weekend, we know it’s going to be a long and hard two days with two good teams to battle."

Jesper Eriksson opened the scoring against Telford at the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre, with Tjay Anderson restoring the home side's lead before the midway mark.

Adam Laishram then put Sean Easton's men 3-2 up, after the visitors levelled for a second time, and Coy Prevost netted an empty-net goal with one second left on the clock to secure victory.

Raiders then raced out of the blocks in Sheffield, with Sylvester assisting on Laishram's early powerplay goal, before Anderson doubled the advantage.

Sylvester - wearing a full visor after a recent facial injury - made it 3-0 at the first break and, after Eriksson struck a minute into the middle session, netted twice more in quick succession to complete his hat-trick.

Eriksson's powerplay marker made it 7-0 at the 40-minute mark, before former GB captain Jonathan Phillips ended the shutout hopes of Ethan James in the final frame.

Sylvester then combined with Prevost to set up Zack Milton - who had already collected five assists of his own - before recent recruit Eriksson completed his own treble to round off a 9-1 triumph late on.

"Obviously it’s nice to contribute - especially coming from some of Coy’s finest dental work in training!" added Sylvester.

"It was tough not playing for a couple weeks but when health professionals give you advice you should probably listen.

"It’s good to see Jesper find form, which I think we knew was there from the moment he got here.

"I think he’s settled in well and has got along with everyone."

Focus now turns to the trip to Scotland, with Raiders having lost 5-2 on their previous visit in mid-October.

They are also looking to end a run of four successive losses against Leeds, but did pick up a point from an overtime defeat in their most recent meeting on February 9.

And Sylvester sees no reason why they cannot add to their tally as they chase a top-eight spot.

"Yes for sure, I think we can take points off every team and we all have some confidence right now," he added, having taken his own tally to 313 points (169 goals, 144 assists) in 300 appearances for Raiders.

"It was nice to get three in game 300, but to be honest I didn’t know until later after the game.

"I think recently everyone has been chipping in and putting in a shift for the team. Let’s hope I can do the same in game 301!"
