CLINICAL Romford hit the goal trail to thrash Frenford 6-1 in their latest Essex Senior League game.

Charlie Morris bagged a hat-trick and Hassan Nalbant scored twice, while Finlay Dorrell also netted in the comprehensive win.

The victory leaves Romford in fourth spot in the table and boss Dan Spinks said: "Frenford comfortably beat us earlier in the season and it was a really tough game for us, that night.

"We owed them one a little bit and we were very good on the day.

"In the first 45 I thought we were comfortable and dominated the game.

"In the first half at 2-0, it didn't look like that much was going to happen again.

"We conceded a soft penalty which got them back in the game and we came out a bit static in the second half.

"For 15 minutes, they got on top and created a few half chances but our strikers were on fire, on Saturday.

"Over the last couple of weeks, we've missed a few chances and we've been going through things in training.

"But we're top scorers in the league, so I can't moan at them too much and we're creating a lot of chances and on Saturday, we took every single one of them.

"Frenford got the brunt of what's been happening over the last few weeks."

Spinks had special praise for his goalscorers, following Romford's big win.

"Charlie's been excellent for us and it's not just about goals," added Spinks.

"He gives you so much more, on and off the ball.

"He got three and Hassan got two which he deserves as well, because he's been absolutely excellent for us.

"I think it was his first league goal since October but I'd say he's been my best player since October.

"It's not just about scoring goals.

"Finlay came on and had half an hour for us at the end and got his goal as well, having already played for Gillingham under-18s earlier in the day.

"It just shows the dedication and attitude that he's got, like all of the youngsters coming through."

Romford host Little Oakley in the Errington Challenge Cup on Saturday.

Spinks added: "I see this game as being as important as the Frenford one for us, because while we probably can't win the league, we want to try and win every competition we can enter."
