Everyone Active Raiders youngster Brynley Capps admitted it was a 'great feeling' to score in front of a home Romford crowd at the weekend.

Capps netted against Hull Seahawks for his second tally in the National League this season, albeit in a 6-5 defeat.

And the youngster is pleased with how his game is developing on a two-way deal with the Romford Buccaneers.

"Against Hull I think it was a case of having a slow start in the first period, however I feel we had control of the rest of the game and it was a great feeling to get another goal in front of the home fans," he said.

"This season I have felt at the best in my career with signing a two-way with the Buccs and the Raiders.

"It is a good way to keep confidence but also be challenged when playing up.

"Last weekend was a good challenge by playing with Laish [Adam Laishram] and Milts [Zack Milton] who are two top players in the league."

Raiders fell to a 5-3 defeat at Bees the following night, after racing into an early two-goal lead.

"I felt we were the better team and had a quick start and we were just unlucky in front of the goal and Bees took their chances well when they had them," added Capps.

Tjay Anderson, another graduate of Romford's youth programme, also netted against Hull and put Raiders 2-0 up on Sunday with an early brace - moving him to 12 goals for the campaign, behind only Adam Laishram (26), Jake Sylvester (25) and Aaron Connolly (14).

"Both games were tough to play," he said.

"Hull took advantage of the slow start that we've been struggling with all year, we turned the game around in the third period closing the gap but it wasn't enough to grab the win.

"Bees was a quick start, the boys started off really well but Bees were able to capitalise on their powerplay chances."

Raiders remain in a play-off place, but face a tough double-header against high-flying MK Lightning this weekend.

They have lost all three previous meetings this season - by 6-1, 5-4 and 12-3 margins - and their young forwards know what to expect.

"We know they are a good team, however as shown when we are playing at our best we can beat any team and need to do that this weekend as the points from the teams above us are what help us move up in the league," said Capps.

Anderson echoed those sentiments, adding: "MK are going to give us a tough weekend - we have to be on it from start to finish.

"Playing away on Saturday will require us to work together and use the space to our advantage. At home it's always good to hear the fans behind us - that gives you the motivation to push harder."
