There is an increased buzz in the Romford camp that only comes from a major cup win and a potential trip to Wembley but while the confidence is great, manager Dan Spinks knows they have other important battles to come.

The Boro moved into the last 16 of the FA Vase with a 2-1 win over Stanway Pegasus, Finlay Dorrell and a second-half penalty from Charlie Morris doing the damage.

But with the next round not for another three weeks, on February 10, the third-placed side in the Essex Senior League can't take their eyes off their goal of promotion, especially with a clash at league leaders Tilbury on Saturday.

The boss said: "It was an excellent performance and I’m really pleased.

"They did everything I asked of them and I'll be honest, the score doesn't represent the performance.

"We should have been out of sight in the first half and second-half we again created chances.

"[But winning was the most important thing], that was basically part of my team talk. Get us into the hat for the next round.

"But I said to [the boys] at training on Tuesday, well done for Saturday but that's history now. We have to move on as we’ve another cup final on Saturday.

"Winning has brought a good buzz to the camp, you could see it in training. We were that little five per cent sharper.

"Tilbury will be a tough game, they are an excellent side.

"We've played them once already and we got a result against them, and deserved it on the day.

"But it’s different now, a different time with different players and they've improved since then.

"We'll give as good as we can get and hopefully we get the result we're after.

"But I do expect another top performance from us, just the way the place is buzzing."

The dreams of Wembley though will naturally stay with the group until the next match.

That will be on the road at the Ruislip-based Hilltop and while it isn't the mammoth adventure that Spinks had dreamed of, playing the Combined Counties League Premier Division North team is one that he is looking forward to.

He said: "We didn’t want anyone in our league because you play them anyway.

"You want to go and see new stadiums and new teams to play.

"I don't know much about them and they won't know much about us but it will be another good game of football.

"As long as we're up for it on the day, we can compete against anyone at this level.

"But it’s one step closer and the dreams will start to become reality soon. As long as we keep knocking them off, we'll see how far we get.

"Hopefully the final step is the trip to Wembley."
