Hornchurch boss Steve Morison says the Isthmian League Premier Division leaders are 'buzzing' for their top-of-the-table clash at Chatham Town on Saturday.

Urchins remain unbeaten after 17 matches and sit eight points clear of their rivals, with three games in hand.

And they head to the Bauvill Stadium in Maidstone after a 14-day break from action, since a goalless draw with Whitehawk at Bridge Avenue on December 2 ended their 12-game winning streak in the league.

"You always have to make the most of it," said Morison, referring to the gap between fixtures.

"We've trained, worked hard and kept the spirits high.

"The boys are buzzing ready for the next game. We've stirred up that bit of hunger, seeing other teams doing their thing."

Chatham looked set to close the gap to six points after taking a 90th-minute lead at Horsham on Tuesday.

But the Hornets hit back during stoppage time to deny them victory and Morison added: "It will feel like a defeat for them and we need to capitalise on that.

"They made quite a few changes and I'd expect those to come back in on Saturday. But we just concentrate on us, implement our game and keep pushing on.

"It has freshened everyone up. We'll have the same squad as was available for the Concord game [December 5] that was called off, no new additions, no-one dropping out.

"It was a nice opportunity for some downtime but we work hard when needed."

Morison, named November's manager of the month last Friday, confirmed Remi Sutton is back in full training, with Jordan Clark and Tommie Hoban on the mend and hopefully back in contention over the Christmas period.

And he says he wants his squad to just keep doing what they're doing.

"It [a win] will be huge," he said.

"We are where we are on merit, the lads have been exceptional.

"We were disappointed not getting a goal [against Whitehawk] but it's nothing to dwell on. We've got to keep going and keep building.

"We've got a very healthy goal difference, we've scored a lot, not conceded many, we've won a lot of games.

"We keep grinding and it's all based on hard work.

"As far as I'm concerned, we work harder than anyone in the league and we're still plugging away."
