Everyone Active Raiders have signed Canadian forward Nick Leyer for the 2023-24 season.

The 23-year-old joins fellow countrymen Adam Laishram and Pierre-Luc Lurette on the roster, having ended last season with Kalix HC in northern Sweden, scoring 10 points in 19 games.

Leyer scored 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) in 31 appearances for NAIT in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference before his move to Europe, helping them to the title in 2022, having tallied 24 points (13g, 11a) in 38 games for Wisconsin's Janesville Jets in the tier two junior North American Hockey League prior to that.

And he scored 59 goals and 72 assists in 197 league and play-off matches for Alberta Junior Hockey League side Spruce Grove Saints, with 362 penalty minutes.

Saints were crowned AJHL champions in 2018, when one of Leyer's teammates and their top points scorer was Chris Van Os-Shaw, who had played in Humboldt a year earlier and also topped their charts - with last season's Raider of the Year Matt Gomercic!

Raiders start their season with a challenge match at the Sapphire Ice & Leisure Centre against Peterborough on September 9, with a return meeting the following night.

They meet Bees IHC in the Everyone Active Shield over the weekend of September 16-17, then start the National League season at MK Lightning on September 23, before hosting newcomers Solway Sharks in their home opener the next evening.
