Bobby Thompson had to demonstrate his resilience and determination in the latest British Touring Car Championship event at Snetterton.

But despite encountering significant challenges, he showcased his determination throughout race day, to battle into the points on a difficult weekend for him and the team.

Following an engine change and missing a practice session, Thompson faced an uphill battle as he approached qualifying but exhibited true commitment by securing a commendable 18th place on the grid.

Thompson showed his fierce determination on the track in race one as, despite grappling with straight-line speed issues and using the slower hard tyre, he adeptly manoeuvred through the pack, displaying impressive overtaking skills.

That perseverance paid off as he crossed the finish line in a respectable 16th, narrowly missing out on a championship point.

Race two posed further obstacles for Thompson as he grappled with the medium tyre and was shuffled back in the pack as he dealt with challenges in overtaking usually, slower competitors due to a balance issue with his Cupra Leon and finished in 20th.

Undeterred by the setbacks, Thompson entered race three with renewed determination and, equipped with the softer, fastest tyre compound, he capitalised on the opportunity to showcase his true potential.

Displaying exceptional car control, he skilfully worked his way through the field, overtaking several competitors to cross the finish line in 13th, ending on a positive note with some valuable points for himself and the team as he remains in the top 10 in the driver’s championship.

"It was a frustrating weekend despite the team working super hard to get us into the best shape possible," said Thompson.

"The engine change on Saturday really put us on the back foot as we were effectively a session behind everyone else after missing FP2.

“We tried to fight our way through but we had a balance issue which we have already sorted for Thruxton. We made great tyre choices on race day which helped us mask our problem somewhat which was good.

“After the issues we had, to come away with some points and remain in the top 10 in the championship is a real result. To complete the damage limitation, we are still leading the team’s independents championship which is a great result!”
