Havering's men romped to a 17-0 win over Waltham Forest seconds in their latest East League outing on Saturday.

They started strongly and within two minutes Adam Willett scored from a trademark short corner routine.

Havering went on to dominate with Liam Purton deflecting an Alex Lee shot home and Harry Andrews netting with a speculative effort as well as from a short corner.

Paul Dover continued his fine form with a penalty flick, while Liam Appleyard produced a composed finish inside the D and keeper Andy Gaut denied a Forest breakaway with a diving save.

Lee and Willett netted within two minutes of the restart, before Purton and Lee took Havering into double figures and Andy Greenhalgh grabbed a quickfire brace to make it a dozen.

Purton and Greenhalgh went on to complete hat-tricks, while Andrews finished with four to his name before Alistair Lewis opened his account for the season from the last play of the game.

The seconds lost 2-1 at winless Crostyx thirds to drop to the bottom of the table.

Crostyx took the lead towards the end of an even first half, but Greg Carolan levelled from close range and put another chance just wide.

Goalkeeper Paul Afteni was beaten by a powerful reverse-stick shot from a tight angle, though, as the hosts took the points and Havering's wait for a first win continues.

The third team's derby against Romford was postponed due to illness in the opposition ranks, while the fourths lost by the odd goal in seven at Chelmsford.

Havering travelled with a mix of youth and experience and saw captain Leo Yang convert two short corners in quick succession to put them on top.

Lucas Afteni put another chance wide and the hosts halved the deficit before the break, then levelled soon after the restart.

Peter Taylor converted from another short corner to put Havering 3-2 up but Chelmsford pinned them back for the remainder of the match and scored twice for a 4-3 win.

Havering's women, meanwhile, were pipped 2-1 by Upminster in their East League derby encounter at Campion.

The visitors began well, as Megan Miller, Aimee Banks and Isabella Uzal pressed, and Sophie McCoy was forced into early action, before a good Emily Gilkes-Tarsey cross went begging.

Steph Prowse, Bukki Olodo, Monica Dubb, Emma Sharp, Emile Molloy and Nic Earl closed most of the Upminster attacks down, while penalty corner strikes from Lucy Falzon and Jemma Cresswell went close.

Dubb had a good chance at the other end, following up from Katie Griggs’ strike, but saw the ball scrambled away and Upminster took the lead just before half time when a pass into the D from Lauren Slater-Harvey led to a penalty corner and Ellen Kozlowska saw her strike deflect high into the goal.

Cresswell saw another change go begging before the break, but Kerry Hodges pounced on a loose ball after a miscommunication in Havering's defence to make it 2-0 just 35 seconds after the restart.

The hosts rallied and kept fighting, finally getting some reward from a well worked penalty corner routine, with Catherine Johnson having the decisive touch.

Midfielders Griggs, Gilkes-Tarsey, Bethan Isherwood and Johnson kept trying to create opportunities for Izzy Purdie and Tilly Bunn but the equaliser wouldn’t come.

McCoy denied Upminster a further goal by saving a penalty stroke, after Slater-Harvey had seen her effort stopped on the line, while Falzon, Megan Miller and Imogen Hodges remained busy around the Havering D as Rebecca Pearson, Kozlowska and Bella Boyle looked to create panic with long-ranging passes.

Kozlowska and Faye Dixey denied Havering counter-attacks, while Alexa Marston dribbled into the D from midfield to win a short corner, which Boyle converted only to see it ruled out as the scoreline remained unchanged.

but Havering were left wondering what might have been as they were left empty handed once again.
