Ingram downs former team

Havering got back to winning ways with a hard-fought 2-1 success over Crostyx at Campion.

Without injured duo Paul Dover and Matt Smyth, after their defeat at Cambridge University, Havering brought Michael Smith back into their side.

The visitors started brightly, but Havering had the first chance of note at a short corner, as Alastair Lewis forced a save from Andy Moncur.

The deadlock was broken midway through the first half when a mistake by the Crostyx left-back saw a weak pass across the back line intercepted by Murray Yeoman, who made his way to the top of the circle and fired into the roof of the net.

Glen Noller freed Joe Wright soon after, but his shot flashed just past the far post.

Ryan Clarke was a virtual spectator in the Havering goal, but had Lewis Smith to thank for deflecting a James Ward strike wide in the secocd half.

Havering forced a pair of short corners at the other end and, after Moncur saved the first low to his left, Gaz Ingram made no mistake with his second effort, flicking into the roof of the net against his former club.

Ward was off-target against for the visitors, but Tim Watson flicked into the corner to give Crostyx late hope.

Havering held on for the points, though, to seal the points going into tomorrow’s trip to Wapping.

The 2nd XI took the lead against Brentwood 3rds with a confident finish from Roger Hiett.

And, in a scrappy contest, Hiett went on to double the lead from a well-worked short corner routine.

Brentwood replied from a late short corner of their own, but could not deny Havering a 2-1 win.

THe 3rds came up against a strong Wapping 6th XI, but Jack Martin made some fine early saves to keep the scoreline blank.

Ashley Meyer forced a good save from the visiting keeper, but Wapping broke the deadlock on the stroke of half-time following a swift counter-attack.

Havering had plenty of possession in the second half, but could not find an equaliser as the scoreline remained unchanged.

The 4th XI fell behind early on against Harlow 2nds, but managed to draw level when Bob Joyce fired home.

Harlow regained the lead from a short corner, but good work on the right by James Schollhammer saw Joyce convert his cross to square matters again.

The home side continued to press, though, and caught Havering too high up the pitch to claim a late winner.

Havering’s women maintained their unbeaten run with a comprehensive 10-2 East League win at Waltham Forest.

Amy Chrisp opened the scoring after only five minutes and quickly grabbed a second after good work from Pippa Wilson.

Chrisp completed her hat-trick on 20 minutes and struck twice more beforet he break to make it 5-0.

Wilson set up Alex Semon at a short corner early in the second half, before Chrisp took her individual tally to seven, after Blaise Copeland and Chelsea Sharp combined on the right.

Great passing between Semon and Wilson sent Hannah Bloy through on goal and she kept her composure to slot home no.9.

Forest hit back with a quick double, but Havering had the final say as Wilson fired home a superb short corner to take them into double figures.

The 2nd XI were without a few key players at Wapping 3rds, but started the stronger as Hollie Dawkins, Maria Griffin and Sam Cash combined well.

Wapping took the lead before half-time and added a second against the run of play after the restart.

But Havering continued to attack and a quick one-two at a short corner saw Dawkins set up captain Beverley Horne to score.

Emma Isherwood combined with Dawkins at the top of the D to score from another short corner soon after to level.

And good work from Nikhol Chapman, Faye Downes and Sue Harwood helped Havering win another short corner, which Horne converted.

Wapping forced a string of late corners, but player of the match Tamara Bailey saved a flick to help clinch victory.

The 3rds bounced back to winning ways with a 1-0 success over Wapping 4ths.

Rosie Millar and Dini Chuter produced good runs on the flanks and Havering claimed the only goal when Steph Holloway fired home from a short corner, after linking up with Nicki Cast.

Ali Bell made some crucial tackles at sweeper to deny Wapping a reply as Havering clinched three important points.

Havering’s mixed team fell behind against Upminster on Sunday, but Gaz Ingram replied with a brace and Amy Chrisp also struck to put them 3-1 up.

Harry Trusler grabbed a second for Upminster, but Ingram hit back with two more goals to seal a 5-2 win.
