Captain says Ardleigh are in good spirits despite winless streak
Chris Cook says the best way for Ardleigh Green to earn their first win in Essex League Division Two this season is to not place any extra stress on the team.
Green visit Wickford hoping to end a winless run in the league that stretches back to the end of last season.
But Cook is as confident as ever that this week will be Green’s week as the season reaches the halfway point.
“The best way to keep morale up is not to put too much pressure on ourselves. We are trying our hardest,” said Cook.
“It is a hard one at times, but all the boys are extremely positive in the changing rooms and in training.
“I know I’ve said it a lot this season, but it’s just about the luck, which we haven’t really had much of.
“When it all finally clicks, we will be underway and hopefully get ourselves on a run that will see us move up the table.”
That may need to happen quickly if Green are to remain in Division Two next season, with 56 points already between them and Gidea Park & Romford in eighth.
