Schools, groups, businesses and individuals across Havering have pulled on Christmas jumpers to give our First Step campaign a grand, festive finale.

The Recorder’s Christmas jumper day for First Step is the final event for Fundraise on the First, which has seen the community raise close to £50,000 for the children’s charity this year.

Among those taking part are Queen’s Theatre, the Mercury Mall, Harold Hill’s Drapers’ Academy and Drapers’ Brookside Junior School, Brentwood Brewing Company and Time FM radio station.

The Recorder and First Step staff will be participating too.

Tweet your pictures on the day from @romfordrecorder so get involved.

Participants are asked to donate a minimum of £2, either through visiting our fundraising page justgiving.com/FundraiseontheFirst or by texting RCDR50 £2 to the number 70070.

Anyone wishing to make a bigger text donation can change the amount to £3, £4, £5 or £10.

Funds raised will go towards First Step’s vital work with children with special needs and disabilities and their families.

So whether you favour a Santa print, pudding or reindeer and go for a subtle or suitably full-on design, please help us finish our campaign with a festive bang.

Those taking part will be featured on a special spread in our Christmas edition out on Christmas Eve.
