A woman was seriously injured in a three-car crash yesterday.

Police were called to Main Road, Romford, at the junction with Lodge Avenue at 4.15pm where a Mercedes, a Toyota and a Toyota Rav4 had collided.

Fire crews had to cut the woman out of the Mercedes and paramedics treated her at the scene for multiple injuries.

She was taken to a trauma unit as a priority but her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The accident brought traffic across Romford to a stand-still and buses were put on diversion.

The scene was clear and traffic running freely by 9pm.

No arrests were made.
