What a load of rubbish!

FRUSTRATED neighbours say the council’s attitude stinks after their rubbish was left spilling out onto the street when bin-men claimed their access was blocked.

Residents in Annabel Court, New Road, Rainham, say black bags were spilling out of the storage unit and attracting vermin.

Nicola Worsford, who lives near to the bin store, contacted council officails about the health issue on numerous occasions but says she got nowhere.

Havering Council says refuse collectors were forced to leave the rubbish because someone put furniture in the unit and said thoughtless fly-tippers were to blame.

Ms Worsford, 23, who has lived in her home for two years, said: “I live next door to it and it stinks, it’s spilling out of the door. I have been out there and throwing the bags in the back to try and shut the door because there are maggots in it.

“They say they won’t collect while there is furniture in it and Homes in Havering can’t give us a date, so god knows how long it is going to take. It’s petty and someone would have to crawl over the rubbish bags to get to the furniture, so it doesn’t make sense.”

After the Recorder contacted Havering Council on Wednesday the rubbish was cleared along with the furniture.
