Wennington fire station to clean cars for charity

Firefighters will soon be at hand not to put out fires, but to wash your car for charity.

Those at Wennington fire station, Wennington Road, Rainham, will be cleaning cars at the station on Saturday, June 30, from 1-4pm.

Money from the day will go towards The Fire Fighters Charity, which has been supporting the fire services community for 75 years.

The day, also known as the National Car Wash League, is the charity’s largest national fundraising event of the year.

The station that makes the most money on the day could also be in with a chance to win a national fundraising award.

Chief Fire Officer Danny Cotton said: “Monies raised through national fundraising initiatives provide a real boost to The Fire Fighters Charity. We are delighted that so many of our fire stations are getting involved and would urge local people to come along and support the day.

“Your valued donations will go towards helping thousands of men, women and children from the fire and rescue community during their times of need.”
