As lightning illuminated the skies over Redbridge and Havering Recorder readers reached for their cameras to capture the extreme weather.
The Met office has said that 62,277 lightning strikes were recorded over the UK this weekend.
Storms reached Redbridge and Havering on Friday evening, bringing rain, thunder and flashes of lightning.
Forecasts predict a respite from the wet weather this week with temperatures in the two boroughs set to reach 26C.
