Summer is well and truly here and Havering’s residents are experiencing “heatwave” conditions as scorching temperatures continue to rise.

Met Office meteorologists are forecasting a very warm – and occasionally hot and humid – week across the UK with temperatures expected to be at their highest tomorrow reaching about 30 degrees.

Public Health England is urging people to stay cool in the hot weather by applying sunscreen, wearing sunglasses and drinking lots of cool drinks.

Dr Yvonne Doyle, London regional director for Public Health England, said: “We want everyone to be able to enjoy the good weather safely. Older people, young children, and those with long-term illnesses are particularly vulnerable to the effects of very hot weather, so it’s important to look out for them.”

Warm and humid spells of weather could also continue into next week.
