A Warley bricklayer will face trial next year on charges of causing the death of a 49-year-old man by dangerous driving.
Stuart Webb, of Britannia Road, is accused of striking pedestrian Curtis McDonald with his van on December 6 2012 in Kings Road, Brentwood.
He was arrested at the scene and charged with the offence after Mr McDonald died in Queen’s Hospital, Romford, a short time after arrival.
Mr McDonald’s wife Gloria paid tribute to him after the accident, calling him a “true family man” and a “great husband”.
Webb, 49, appeared in court today and was released on bail. His trial at Basildon Crown Court will begin on April 28 2014.
