This video shows the scenes in Upminster where a large fire has badly damaged a tool shop – just yards from a florists that was destroyed last year when a lorry ploughed into it.

Crews from Hornchurch were called to Hares Hire in Upminster Road, near Upminster Bridge underground station, earlier this afternoon.

One person has been treated for smoke inhalation by ambulance crews. Surrounding roads are closed and buses are on diversion while the fire is dealt with.

The building is just four shops down from Harrington’s of Upminster Bridge, a florists that was destroyed when a lorry ploughed into the front of it in October.

London Fire Brigade tweeted about the unfortunate coincidence, asking if Upminster Road was the “unluckiest road ever?”
