Upminster teen to design outfits for London Fashion Week

Models at London Fashion Week will be striking a pose wearing outfits designed by an 18-year-old college student.
Holly Coutts, of Upminster, is one of 23 young people from London and Manchester chosen to design garments in the lead up to the September event.
The Havering College student was chosen from 130 others after taking part in a 10-week Fashion Future workshop where she was given an insight into the industry, from researching and technical drawing to pattern cutting and making a garment from scratch.
The next stage of the project is intensive workshops run by fashion charity Fad at the University of East London, where Holly, along with 22 other finalists, will have five days to create their catwalk garments for the Fashion Futures final.
Inspired by the stain glass windows at the V&A museum, Holly has created a sporty evening dress in rich jewel shades.

Holly said: “Seeing my design on the catwalk will be a massive boost in confidence.
“I hope it will help me to get a place at university and then a career in fashion design for one of the main high street retailers.”
