Upminster building merchants supplies and fits £800 door for elderly burglary victim free of charge

George Farmer, 87, had his door kicked down and plundered £580 from his home but in an act of goodwill a local building merchants replaced the door for free.
The Upminster Safer Neighbourhoods Team (SNT) approached Jim Willams, of Willams & Sons, St Mary’s Lane, Upminster, after Mr Farmer’s property was burgled.
On January 21 the merchants supplied and fitted the new kitchen door worth £800 completely free of charge.
Mr Farmer had his house broken into on December 21, 2013. The thief raided the house after entering through the pensioner’s kitchen door.
Pc Belinda Goodwin, from Upminster SNT, said: “I would like to thank Mr Williams and his team for their kind and generous gesture.”
Police urge anyone with information regarding the burglary to contact police on 101 quoting reference 5419001/13.
