The woman who died after being hit by a lorry at a Tesco distribution centre this morning has been named locally as Jo Cline.

The 50-year-old, an employee, became trapped under the vehicle at the supermarket’s site at the Beam Reach Business Park, in Consul Avenue, Rainham.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London Air Ambulance battled to save her life, but she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ms Cline’s colleague Wayne Platt, the distribution centre’s manager, said: “This was a tragic incident and all our thoughts are with our colleague’s family during this very difficult time.”

A spokesman for the police said Ms Cline’s next-of-kin have been informed.

There have been no arrests and officers from the serious collision investigation unit are looking into the incident.
