Two men have been arrested following a serious assault outside Romford Station in the early hours of this morning.

A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital with facial injuries following the attack, which is thought to have stemmed from an altercation at a nearby nightclub.

Police, who were called to the scene just before 2am, arrested two 20-year-old men from Dagenham later this morning.

The victim is expected to be released from hospital today.

A cordon was set up closing down areas of South Street and the station itself, causing alarm for commuters and those in the town centre.

Posting on twitter, user ‏@edenLwatts described the scene. She wrote: “There’s blood on the floor at Romford Station and its all cordoned off with police, lovely little sight for the morning.”

Enquires continue.
