There was serious disruption on the Liverpool Street to Shenfield railway line last night after a driver believed he had struck someone at Goodmayes station.

The man, in his 30s, managed to leave the station but came forward reporting he had been struck.

The line was shut for two hours in both directions at around 7.15pm.

A British Transport Police (BTP) spokesman said: “A thorough search of the area was carried out last night by officers, but no person was found. A man in his thirties has since come forward to police.”
