The 1,000-tonne waste fire at an industrial site is still being dealt with by fire crews.
The “50ft” blaze is at a site in the Allbright estate in Ferry Lane, Rainham. Four crews from Wennington were called at about 6.30am yesterday to the fire, and are still dealing with it today, though firemen now have it under control.
A witness who works nearby said: “It’s massive. I think the rubbish must have ignited because there’s too much of it.”
