More than 400 homes suffered a power cut in the early hours of the morning after a fault to an underground cable.

UK Power Networks has apologised for any “inconvenience caused” to the 410 properties affected in Hornchurch.

A spokesperson said: “UK Power Networks engineers worked as quickly and safely as possible to restore electricity supplies to 410 properties in Hornchurch following a fault on an underground cable just after 2am today.

“All but two of the properties had their power restored in stages by 4am and the final two customers were back on supply at 9.50am.

“We understand how difficult it is to be without power and apologise for an inconvenience caused.”
