A road was closed this morning after a car crashed into a shop window leaving two women needing hospital treatment.

Police received reports of a road traffic collision in Suttons Lane, Hornchurch, by the junction of Dawes Avenue at 11.42am.

The fire brigade also attended the scene and the road had to be closed off while emergency services dealt with the situation.

The women, one thought to be the driver, were taken to a hospital to be treated for none-life threatening and none-life changing injuries.

A spokeswoman for the London Ambulance Service said: “We sent two ambulance crews, a single responder in a car, a team leader and our Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) to the scene.

“We treated two women at the scene and took them both to a hospital in north east London.”
