Two friends have been busy organising fundraising events in aid of St Francis Hospice, which cared for their grandmothers.

The latest fundraising event singers Liberty Hayes and Charlotte Inglis, from Hornchurch, organised was a family fun day at The Drill Pub, Brentwood Road, Romford, on Sunday, October 28.

Visitors to the fun day enjoyed singing performances, a children’s entertainer, face painters, good food and a raffle while helping raise 700.

Liberty is supporting St Francis Hospice because her grandmother Connie Adams, from Hornchurch, received care before she died of cancer in November 2010 and Charlotte’s Nan Jo Roberts, who had liver cancer and was supported as an inpatient before she died in May.

Liberty said: “It was a fantastic day and we were pleased with how well the event went.

“Charlotte and I felt the care our families received was brilliant and so we wanted to do our bit to support such as wonderful and vital cause as St Francis Hospice.”

The next event Liberty and Charlotte are planning to raise money for the hospice is a variety night and disco to take place on December 15 at Brandon Groves Community Centre, South Ockendon.

The evening will feature singing and dancing with performances by Liberty, The Voice Factory, Chelsea Johnson and others.

It will take place from 7pm. Tickets are 15 for adults and 7.50 for children, which includes a buffet. For tickets call 07817 435443.

Saint Francis Hospice fundraiser Linda Borg said: “Without the support of local businesses like The Drill Pub and individuals like Liberty and Charlotte the hospice would not be able to raise the money required to provide the range of care and support to patients and families coping with cancer or other life-limiting illness.

“I’d like to thank the girls, pub and everyone who supported the day and made it a success and hope the Variety Night is as well received.”
