Striker’s double denies leaders
Hornchurch hero Martin Tuohy revealed he never doubted he would get his place back in the line-up after netting two penalties against Salisbury on Saturday.
Tuohy was restored to the starting XI by boss Jimmy McFarlane for the Essex Senior Cup quarter-final tie with Colchester, and promptly bagged a hat-trick in a 4-3 win.
And he kept his cool to score twice from the spot at the weekend to reach double figures for the season.
He said: “We’ve got a good squad, but I knew I would get my chance.
“Leon (McKenzie) came on against Salisbury and made a big difference going forward and we’re going to need everyone from now until the end of the season.
“But I have confidence in my ability and know I can contribute more goals to the side.”
