The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant and the Olympic Torch Relay were among the events commemorated in a celebratory parade by the TS Hurricane Hornchurch and Upminster Sea Cadets.
During the bi-annual Royal Naval Parade on Tuesday, March 5, cadets and staff were inspected for drills and dress uniforms by deputy area officer Lt Commander (SCC) Cliff Lewis, before performing a short display for parents and guests.
The display marked some of the group’s successes throughout 2012, including involvement in the Jubilee and the Rainham torch relay.
Guests included the Worshipful Company of Coachmakers’ senior warden, the Hon. Michael Callaghan, and Clerk Cdr M Leaning RN, plus staff from Sainsbury’s Hornchurch. Both companies have links to the unit.
The unit’s committee members had spent nine weekends painting and laying new carpet for the evening.
